The Institute of Forensic Psychology of the University of Applied Science of Aspen did a research on the fast growing phenomena of so called Internet-Bashing. Internet-Bashing is a new way of anonymously personal insult mainly prominent persons by questioning their work as well as their personality on the internet. Internet-Bashing – the new hype in Anglo-Saxon internet culture. The study was based on Internet-Bashing on German director Uwe Boll. The American medical journal “NEW PSYCHOLOGY POST” talked to Dr. Ann-Rose Kahn, in charge of the study and its results.
NEW PSYCHOLOGY POST: Dr. Kahn, a scientific research based on only one real case isn’t that a quite unusual and unrepresentative way of learning more about the roots and motivation of Internet-Bashing?
Dr. Ann-Rose Kahn: Well, in the beginning it was more to learn about the new phenomenon itself, its origin, who these so called internet-bashers are and what motives drive them to write these things. So we decided to start with a prominent and up-to-date single case to have a start. The case of Uwe Boll and the so called Boll-Haters are so outstandingly interesting and fascinating because it is by far the biggest, most exotic and intense case one can find on the internet today. Based on this high level of anonymous aggression it was an ideal case to start with.
NEW PSYCHOLOGY POST: Your research was based on which method?
Dr. Ann-Rose Kahn: We started to analyse qualitatively and quantitavely. In the beginning the texts were analysed on the statistical frequency of certain words, word groups and word forms. What mainly interested us was to learn how big the used variety and vocabulary of certain words was. We soon learned it was not very big, it repeated itself constantly.
NEW PSYCHOLOGY POST: Does that mean the average internet-basher has a low IQ?
Dr. Ann-Rose Kahn: No, on the contrary. The quality analyse of the texts showed that the average internet-basher has an average IQ, can communicate intellectually but is not using this ability or is unable to use it. The average internet-basher has a higher than average level of education but is limited to use and communicate the learned skills. The very intense and concentrated use of superlatives or negative connotations is very interesting too. Those are typical indices for strong deficits in self-esteem. It also underlines the fact that these persons take their time to bash on such an intense and very emotional level with one single person. They try to create closeness to the person they bash on. This is, of course, artificial. None of them has a real contact to the people they bash on.
NEW PSYCHOLOGY POST: Mr. Boll is famous for adapting video games for the big screen. So those are persons that hate him for doing so?
Dr. Ann-Rose Kahn: That does not explain the level and the intensity that is used in the Internet-Bashing towards Mr. Boll. It was the trigger to begin with, but is definitely not what is motivating these anonymous persons to continue. The very distinctive usage of swearwords as well as negative superlatives underlines how helpless these people are in real life. They are typical victims in their own created internet world. They compensate their own inability of dealing with themselves and concentrate their emotions on prominent persons. This can create sort of a domino effect: Finding others who jump on this too is creating an artificial union, a made up family on the net. Chat rooms and internet boards deliver a perfect meeting place for such individuals. It is about getting attention, being noticed, being someone one cannot be outside the home.
NEW PSYCHOLOGY POST: Any further noticeable cognitions in your research?
Dr. Ann-Rose Kahn: Yes, it stands out that homoerotic intensions/feelings seem to play a huge part in this new internet phenomenon. The very high level of very concrete sexual connotations is a clear hint for that. So far Internet-Bashing is a mainly male dominated phenomenon.
NEW PSYCHOLOGY POST: Is there something like a typical Internet-Basher?
Dr. Ann-Rose Kahn: Surprisingly, yes. The average Internet-Basher is male, single, between 20 – 30 years old. He has a low social competence, lives on the net. He has a strong homoerotic intention which he is unable to live out and distinctive inferiority complex. Most of these men still live at their parent’s home or close to it.
NEW PSYCHOLOGY POST: Thank you, Dr. Kahn for this interview.

In its April 15th issue the New York Post provided a comprehensive report Postal. Uwe Boll maintains that the articled quoted a large number of inaccurate facts and issued this counterstatement:
Dear New York Post readers,
the New York Post’s attempt to slander my character and my movie POSTAL by stating that the movie mocks and makes fun out of September 11 victims is entirely incorrect and false. Their approach to writing this article was totally unethical. In fact, during their research for the article, The New York Post had to replace the three journalists who choose to support my concept. The publisher chose to censor these journalists and had Jill Culora write the article without even conducting an interview with me to explain what the movie is about.
I empathize with the family members of 9/11 victims and what they have had to live through. The New York Post used these victims, instrumentalized the victims and their pain against the movie Postal. Postal was not meant to offend the 9/11 victim family members. Postal is an affront only on ignorant politicians, religious zealots and close-minded individuals.
Best Regards
Dr. Uwe Boll

Bruce Fletcher of Dead Channels: The San Francisco Festival of Fantastic Film (where they’re going to show Postal on August 11) had this to say about the upcoming shocker Seed:
Seed bashing in the woman’s head is one of the most brutal,
sadistically violent sequences I’ve ever seen.

Members of messageboards web-wide are in a hot debate about patriotism, self-censorship and the current political state of the world since the first clip from Postal was released on BollBashers.com. JJohnny_Cool posted this noteworthy comment on IMDb:
What the hell is goin’ on here!? All you guys from America who come here and complain about “Postal” because it makes fun of your country have completely misunderstood Uwe Boll’s intention!! Sure, he ridicules your country… but you’re by far not the only ones!!
He also makes fun of his own country, for example… and, what is even more important, he makes fun of himself, too!! He plays a dumb Nazi in typical German clishee clothes (leatherpants, suspenders, etc) who opens an Auschwitz amusement park and gets killed by a shot in the balls!! So come on, “Postal” makes just as much fun of Germans as it makes of Americans…
And it also makes fun of Christians, it makes fun of Muslims, it makes fun of Jews, it makes fun of big guys (Ralph Moeller), it makes fun of small guys (Verne Troyer), it makes fun of old guys, young guys, fat guys, slim guys, it makes fun of people of all different colors of skin and of all different religions. You’ll hardly find anybody who could sit through “Postal” without feeling offended even once!!
And that’s the crucial point about it, Uwe Boll is not Anti-American just because America’s in the line of fire of “Postal” as well… everybody’s in that line of fire!! “Postal” treats everybody equal and ridicules and attacks everybody!!
And by doin’ so, the movie paints some weird, but pretty effective picture of community and equality: We’re all livin’ on the same planet and if we want to survive, we gotta stick to each other and support each other, instead of fighting wars and shootin’ each other in the head for no reason at all!! That’s what “Postal” is about… sure, it’s full of harsh jokes, black comedy and stupid slapstick, but it also has a deeper meaning and an important message to tell!!
If you blame and curse Uwe because you feel offended by the way he portrayed your particular country in “Postal”, you simply haven’t understood what “Postal” is all about at all… so just relax and take it easy, “Postal” is not meaner or crueler to America than it is to any other country in the world…

Til Schweiger, one of Germany’s biggest stars, will play the lead role in Far Cry, the latest computer game to make the transition to the big screen. Schweiger’s credits include Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door, Barfuss and King Arthur.
Producer Shawn Williamson said “We are very excited to have Til in the role of Jack Carver. He is a wonderful actor with a great ability to balance the action and dry wit needed in this film.”
The script was penned by Michael Roesch und Peter Scheerer, who collaborated with Boll on Alone in the Dark in 2004 and will also direct a sequel to Alone in the Dark shortly after the filming of Far Cry begins in May. (sknr.net)
